So how do I up the pressure on my combi boiler?

The pressure on our boiler is currently about 0.4. It says to call our installer if it is less than 0.5 to get it repressurised. In my old house, we had this and I called out a plumber only to get charged £150 (hourly rate, but had to pay for first hour) for him to flick a switch on the hot water tank and have it done within 60 seconds... At least then I knew what to do whenever the pressure dropped. I'm loathe to spend ludicrous amounts of money again but we no longer have a hot water tank so I need to find how to do the same with a combi boiler.

Anyone know how to do it?

Get out the manual and there will be something called, iirc, a filling loop. Sometimes it is semi-hidden underneath the machine so it will be difficult to explain where it is exactly but you just open it for a few seconds and then the pressure goes up.

Do you know hwere the tap is that lets the water into it? That's what I have to to turn to get the pressure up in mine. Should be in your manual as cold water inlet or similar. Mine has a mini tap on the pipe - a blue plastic one.

Ours has a length of metal hose (like shower hose) underneath the boiler. There is a tap there, if you turn it for a few seconds the pressure will rise. Sometimes there are two taps and you have to turn both.

Switch boiler off. Turn 'tap' it should be fairly obvious hopefully. You will hear the whoosing as the water fills up and the pressure increases. Don't get a plumber out for this!

We have 2 taps on a bendy bit of pipe underneath the boiler. Both need to be opened to fill it up a bit.

I was really loathe to call a plumber - we did it in our first house when we knew nothing about DIY so it was almost excusable, but it wouldn't be excusable second time round

Ours doesn't have a pipe with a tap - we have a 'hole' under the boiler into which you stick a plastic 'key' and turn it 90 degrees. The water goes in, the pressure rises then you turn the key back 90 degrees and it's job done!
