MILTON KEYNES: Come on, who has the love?

We currently live abroad, but DH may have got a job in Milton Keynes and so we're wondering what it's really like.
Anyone live here? Schools? Shopping? Social life? Housing? Best area to live in?
Any tips of hints you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, HH

Can only comment on the shops as live near to but not in Milton Keynes. Shopping is great has absolutely everything! Sure someone will be along soon who is more knowledgeable than me

I also live near mk but not in it! I love the place! Ok e the shops, love the theatre love the cinemaand snowdome! Plenty of fab parks too. And best bit is there's an ikea nearby!! Oh, and we have the mk dons footie!

Housing? Not so sure on best areas, but PLENTY for kids to do!! I'm in a surrounding village, nearer Bedford end really.

I would pick one of the beautiful out-lying villages which have better schools, rather than MK itself which imo is a bit soulless, and all the roads look the same. MK has the best range of shops in the region very although as a shopping centre it's showing its age.

ignore the stray 'very'

Having a think, Olney is very pretty and has a lovely high street.

Woburn too. And Salford.

FIMBO - not 2 jobs, but 2 potential jobs (maybe 3 now). We have to try to decide IF we want to move back to the UK and then WHERE (hence asking for help on here).

Thanks all

Look at Stony Stratford - pretty, characterful, nice green spaces, good primary schools, good pubs and restaurants.
