Caravan - price?

Not sure where to post this.

We want a tiny caravan, mainly to stand outside the house as a spare room, but also hopefully for the odd local weekend 'camping' trip.

We would like a caravan which is basically sound and water tight but no more - it doesn't have to look good inside or have any modcons.

How much should we think of paying?

My brother bought a fairl decent 2nd hand one last year for around £1800 iirc. It was very clean inside and complete with shower/toilet - very unlike the prehistoric one we used to spend our summer holidays in as children!

sorry, fairly .

A caravan will still be cold in winter unless it has C/H so would a tent in the garden be easier and cheaper for a spare room and weekends away?

About £2000 should get you a decent, clean one of about 15 yrs old. You can put an electric heater in instead of using gas if you're plugged in.

The most important thing is damp - if the edges or bottom corners are damp you will never get rid of it. Swing off the corner holders and look underneath and put your face flush to the side and give the panels a good wobble!

Eeeek. Much more expensive than I had hoped!

Thanks for tips. Was planning to put a small wood burner in.
