Anyone successfully negotiated a rent reduction this year?

Our tenancy is approaching the end of its contract. My impression is that rents have fallen in the area so tempted to try to negotiate a rent reduction. Clearly some risk involved here as there's no guarantee we'll be able to find anything cheaper or better.

Has anyone else done this lately? Any tips?

Research first. Look at property websites and in estate agencies windows to gauge rents for comparable properties. Once you've done your 'homework', you can better judge whether asking for a rent reduction is reasonable.

Agree with early bird, have a look around your local area, your landlord maybe on a tracker mortgage and be paying £1 a month
