Hi all, I need to get a quite on how much it's going to cost to fix som damp on a house we have offered on.

What sortof tradesperson deals with damp and is there a directory I can use to find one? Thanks!

try a builder, the estate agent should have a list of local ones

It will depend on what is causing it.

Usually it is something structural so yes a builder would have to do it.

Thanks for the replies got someone out to give us a quote and it's going to cost £1000 which seems insanely cheap! Have found another compnay but they charge £75 to come out and give us an estimate is that the norm?

probably about right depending on work.

i had a damp proof course installed plus wood treated for woodworm about five years a go. total was £1200 on three bed semi.

need to factor in other potential costs, ie unforeseen damp extra plastering, joists replaced etc.
