HELP - Gas meter reading in new property ....

I have just rented a property - I am moving back to UK from abroad. I could not get to the place for two weeks but my meter reading of the Gas meter is 100 cubm higher than the one give to me as my "take-over" reading.

Does this seem reasonable to you? It seems a large amount of gas to me but I just don't understand these things anymore.

Please somebody help - I am really worried I am being striped-up here!

No idea, but can you not call your gas supplier and ask them what may account for the difference? Has the heating been left on in the property while it is vacant?
