what colour kitchen tiles?

We are having our kitchen done at the moment. Cream cupboards, black worktops & oak floor, black sink. We have a black 'upstand' in place. Our house tends to be quite dark with small windows. It is not uncommon for us to have the lights on during the day. Tomorrow we are going to choose tiles for a splashback - any suggestions?
We had fancied something quite bold - like red - cause the rest of the kitchen is quite conservative, but our kitchen fitter has suggested that people quickly get bored with bold tiles. I'm finding it hard to visulaise anything other than red / burgundy tiles at the moment - should we just go for it, or will we regret it?
TIA

Go for burnt orange - it's the colour I scrub off our £££ matt cream textured tiles the most!

I've got burgundy tiles, they are pretty good from a (non) cleaning perspective. They are quite dark though. I would like black glass 'brick' tiles:

what about glass rather than tiles> hard to get bored of it?

I have large matt red brick tiles they are 50cm by 20cm so only have 3 rows.they really look great and changed the whole kitchen
