We have exhausted all avenues of becoming homeowners, and the ownhome load/mortgage with co-op seems to be our last hope.

We have rang them but have now waited nearly 4 weeks for them to ring us back to get the ball rolling.

Rang them after 2 weeks, and they said you jist have to wait, we are veru busy,

Not even sure if there is 'funding in our area'.

Grrrrr. Keep seeing lovely bigger houses to rent we could afford. Maybe we should forget it and rent a better house, or keep hanging in in case we could really own our own home one day???

Anyone with similiar experience ???

Cant realy help i'm afraid. Just wanted to say that we are in the same boat as you. So would be interested in the replies you get.

Whereabouts are you tho, coz we are in the south west and they also run a scheme called my choice homebuy. It might be worth lookng around to see what else (if anything is available). Hope you get some where with it all.

We were in the process of buying a home with Ownhome and had our phone interview last October - we had to wait 4 weeks too for an interview - they told us that we were eligible and that we could now proceed to try and get a mortgage with the Co-op with 20-40% equity loan. We did sort out a mortgage but that was as far as we got as then DH's job was iffy and house prices have been coming down so we thought we would wait. Good job too as DH's company have a shutdown for 4 months at the moment. I have to call them actually to make sure it is ok for us to wait until the end of this year maybe. They told us there was no time limit but of course if you apply for the mortgage you only have 3 months before you have to apply again if you haven't found anything. A colleague of mine at work has been through the process and she was the one who suggested it to me.
So we have applied but we are hanging on for a while to see what happens in the housing market.

Thankyou for replies - pinkdolly, I am also in the southwest, we are on the my choice homebuy register, I believe. In our area there are no new-build shared ownerships homes being built, so our ownly chance is if a resale comes up. The open market homebuy with ownhome appealed to us as you get to choose any home on the open market, rather than the homes purpose built for shared ownership.

Thanks for your reply saramoon - its reassuring to hear someone has gotten further than us ! Hopefully they will phone soon as it has been four weeks now, and we are so desperate to get out of where we are. Its so tempting to snap up one of the lovely rented houses I keep coming across, but I guess we have to keep holding on to see what happens !
