Would appreciate the advice of some logical property minded people regarding the protocol of moving. I accepted an offer on my house a couple of weeks ago from a cash buyer, who stipulated he was keen to complete by Easter. Things have moved quite quickly the last couple of weeks - survey done etc and contracts could be exchanged within a couple of weeks. The day after excepting the offer on my house, we put in an offer on the house we want to buy and it was accepted - the vendors were also told that our buyer wanted to get in to our house asap and thus we would be keen to complete quite quickly. Due to a combination of factors such as the man working away, the family we are buying from are hoping to offer on a house early next week and have also stipulated they are not willing to rent in the short term.
The problem is therefore that the time frames don't quite add up and I think it will come down to somebody having to budge, ie, my buyer accepting a later date to move in (which I don't think he'll be keen to do) or us renting, or the people we are buying from renting. We have offered virtually the full price on the house we are buying and obviously don't want to rent. I think that the man buying our house will want a date fairly soon to move in as he wishes to give notice on the flat he is renting. I am tempted to be rather firm with the people we are buying from (their house has been on the market for 2 and a half years) but what do you all think is reasonable and acceptable?
Thanks!
