I need to design just one wall of units and a matching island and sick unit...

i need to actually DESIGN it rather than do a plan

Have you tried downloading Google Sketchup?

Also lots of kitchen shops such as Magnet and Ikea have online design software that you can use and see a 3D model of your design.
