Just a general moan, we don't need to apply until later this year for 2010 entry but feeling a bit down about how dd may have to go to a less desirable school until the market picks up and we can move, that is if we can get our money back on our property! moving out and renting our property out not an option due to the rental market and our finances!

Are we the only ones?

Probably not

Only caution I would add that moving later, if your child is still in KS1 you may not be able to get them into your nearest school.

We moved house when our children were 6 (Y1), 8 10 and 11. We only looked at houses within walking distance of OK schools. They wouldn't tell us whether they'd take them until we'd exchanged contracts, then they said they were full

We had 5 years of driving to a distant primary, which was a PITA.
