What colour should I paint my bathroom?

The suite is white, and so are the tiles with a black border at the top.

All the testers we've tried so far don't seem quite right so I'm looking for some inspiration!

What colour testers have you tryed that dont look right?

I would say - white, just off white to give it a warmth of some kind.

Apricot to give warmth and then have chocolate brown towels.. Grey to be a safe colour.

not bubblegum pink. may seem like a good idea but let me reassure you it is not a very classy grown up relaxing look.
am saving up for some sage green.

we have white tiles with grey/black mosaic border and black flor tiles. we used a crown paint called something stee. Iwill go and have a look...

princessmel · 24/02/2009 21:19

white if I had those tiles.

Rhubarb · 24/02/2009 21:20

Piss yellow or poo brown to save on the cleaning. Or how about a combination of the two!

I charge for my services.

soft steel

Angelsus · 24/02/2009 21:24

LOL Rhubarb

I've already tried a couple of greens, dark grey and black. Have decided we want a bright colour as its mainly the ds's that use this bathroom.

sky blue by Laura Ashley

relaxing and a bright colour, has good depth of colour so manages to look classy too.

Angelsus · 24/02/2009 21:27

cece - i do like the look of the soft steel nowhere near as dark as the grey we tried. Do you have coloured accessories in the bathroom?

Farrow and Ball 'Blackened' is a really nice light grey to go with white tiles, but not a bright colour.

How about a violety blue on one wall and a mid-aqua green on another? Sounds odd but works quite well in a white bathroom, and definitely adds colour!

cece · 24/02/2009 21:51

I am planning on getting soem bright orange towels but hasven't found any that are just the right shade of orange yet... I have a bath and pedestal mat (have a young DS who doesn't concentrate as mush as he should do) that are white, black and grey stripes.

samsonara · 24/02/2009 22:00

I like your suggestion PixelHerder, the bathroom I'm going to be sorting out is white tiled and will have white suite and I was thinking about paint colour just today. Although as there's no window it might not look as good in artificial light. I suppose I will stick with white or off white.

specialmagiclady · 24/02/2009 22:04

Be warned - if it's a north-facing room, green or blue could look terribly cold. If you're going to be naked in there you want it to feel a bit warmer.

(My kitchen is bubblegum pink and it's beeeoootiful. Even the sceptics love it!)

Angelsus · 24/02/2009 23:12

thanks for all the replies so far - off to B&Q tomorrow for more samples!

Yellow is flattering I think I heard somewhere.

How about farrow and Ball Hound Lemon? Hmm, not sure about yellow and black border on tiles though.

Or, another personal favourite, F&B Pigeon?

Have just done mine . Got a White suite. Used a soft silver grey paint and got a black bath panel. Grey and black accessories mixed with aubergine!! Looks great!!
Great selection of towel colours at dunhelm mill.
