How much to carpet a house??!

OK, how long is a piece of string?

BUT any idea how much it'd cost us to carpet a 4 bedroom estate house, stairs, living/dining room and your usual 1.5m x 1.5m entrance hall area?

I'm thinking mixed fibre oatmeal (the more hard-wearing type you might find in a renter, not 100% pure wool Axminster, here!)

Are we looking at 750 pounds? Or 4000 pounds? I really don't know!

I can work out square meterage if that helps, though that won't account for and funny shapes (there aren't any in the house, really, it's a bog standard 20 year old estate house in Hampshire)

my sister lives in 3 bedroom detached house, average size, not huge.
they had living/dining room (about 15-20 ft long)
stairs
3 bedrooms (2 small doubles and 1 single)

cost them £1,500, but it was in the sale, i think that's quite a good price
not sure if that helps?
quite neutral carpet

MIL had an 3 bed estate terrace done for £2,000/£2,500 - really good carpet, in the sale. That was underlay & those nail strips too - will you be using your old underlay?

I'd say more like £4000 imo!

I carpeted an my old flat, 1 double bed, 1 box room, large living room and hall and that was about £1000 about 5 years ago.

A 4 bed with stairs has got to be at least £3000 I'd say, unless you find something cheaper in the sales

Many thanks. I hadn't a clue!
