Help me decorate my bedroom

We have wooden furniture, wooden floor and a wooden bed.

The curtains are fairly new so are staying. They are chocolate brown.

We intend to get new bedding.

The walls are currently creamy coloured.

I will probably get flamed for saying it but I am really keen on lime green especially on soft furnishings. How about a really great apple/lime green silk throw (conran used to do one at John Lewis but I can't see it on their website now)? It will go well with the brown and the cream (if it's not too yellow). My other suggestion would be tangerine if the wood isn't orangey.

teal

shocking pink

lime green

all will go fabulous with the brown/cream

GypsyMoth · 19/02/2009 20:51

Mine is same. I did duck egg blue with the chocolate and cream décor.

Ivykaty44 · 19/02/2009 20:53

duck egg blu is so calming in a bedroom - that gets my vote

SOUnds like quite a lot of wood so woudl suggest a large rug to break up the wooden floor.
All the colour suggestions so far sound good.
Pale blue is good at toning down lots of wood.
IMO white bedline with coloured throw/bedspread is the most chic, check out the White COmpany for a lovely range.
How about glass bedside lamps/chandeliers to make a change from all the wood?

Nabster · 20/02/2009 08:11

It does sound a lot of wood but actually looks fine. The bed is massive and with the drawers there isn't a lot of floor space on show.

I like the idea of a rug but assume I owuld fall over it.

Wouldn't duck egg blue be cold?

My BIL gave me an Argos voucher for my birthday so I have £30 to spend there.

We have wall lilghts either side of our bed.

You can get rug gripper things to keep the rug anchored to the floor.

Soft blue woudl work nicely with the brown curtains. You could use pink soft tone bulbs in the bedside lights to make the room seem "warmer".

cheekysealion · 20/02/2009 16:53

rasberry and lime

BonsoirAnna · 20/02/2009 16:58

Wood is quite hard so have you thought about linen or velvet for soft furnishings?

What is your budget?

Pannacotta · 20/02/2009 17:02

Oh yes BonsoirAnna good idea, I just bought a gorgeous plum velvet bedspread, makes the room feel really luxiourous...

BonsoirAnna · 20/02/2009 17:07

You could dress your bed up in linen for summer and velvet for winter.

A mixture of sage linen and white cotton sheets would look lovely... or perhaps a dusky rose linen duvet cover...

Nabster · 20/02/2009 19:54

It would be useful if I could use my £30 Argos voucher. I intend to repaint, buy a rug and possibly a throw. Not all out of the £30 of course!

Nabster · 21/02/2009 08:08
