Can anyone recommend a solicitor for buying a house in London?

We've had an offer accepted today (hooray!) We're keen to move quickly. Last time we tried this, our rubbish solicitor delayed so long the purchase fell through. Can anyone in London recommend their solicitor please? Looking for one who is good at communication and moves quickly.
Thanks very much.

I don't think you necessarily need to use a conveyancing solicitor in London - we moved from London to Tunbridge Wells last year and used Alastair Harvey at Thomson Snell and Passmore (in T Wells) and I cannot rate him highly enough - he was outstanding. My parents used him for their flat sale in London too after our experience. His number is 01892 701231.

(and I don't say that lightly - the previous two moves were HORRENDOUS due to inefficient/terrible conveyancers!)

I can highly recommend Russell Shapiro at Gelbergs. He has handled all my families property transactions for the last 15 years and does a fantastic job. We are just completing a purchase next Friday and he makes the whole process very easy, both buying and selling.Set fee, no nonsence, great attention to detail.

Good luck

My solicitor, Justin Sidnick at William Heath & Co, is brilliant. Used him four or five times now and he's quick and reliable, probably not the cheapest in town but very, very capable. 020 7402 3151. [email protected]
Recommended him to people who have been equally pleased.

Problem is, there's no guarantee that your sellers won't choose a complete idiot...

Thanks for the replies which I have just seen now. Unfortunately, I spoke too soon, we've just been gazumped. In this market, can you believe it...

Ah... the joys of house buying. A better one will come along!

Check with your IFA if they know someone.
