Scabby walls - what can I do?

Hello!

Went a bit mad with a steam wallpaper stripper and the walls are very patchy

I know the sensible, proper thing to do would be to replaster but it is not an option, at least not at the momeent.

Has anyone used Polycell - type products & do they work, or do you have a better idea?

watching with interest, i did the same thing & we had to get the room replastered (DH not happy at the unexpected cost!) I want to strip DS's room too but i predict the walls will be in the same state so i'd like to know if there's a cheaper alternative!
Also what can you buy to paint over a ceiling which has bumpy wallpaper?
