We are due to move house in two months and I am already planning how im going to decorate, We have one DD (2) and are expecting DC2 in september. In the new house they will be sharing a bedroom. I do not have a clue how best to decorate this room for a 2 year old DD and a second child I do not know the sex of....Any ideas?

do you want it themed or just child-friendly? you could always avoid pinks etc and do something with animals/jungle that will appeal to both sexes.

I would do a bird theme - lovely for children of either sex, and not too babyish not to last for several years.

I'd go with light beige as a background, with green, red gingham, and cream for the curtains and other bits and bobs.

Or possibly pale lilac/grey with red and cream.

My boys' room is cream with a pale grey/lilac wooden school dresser, red carpet, red bunk beds. I plan to paint toadstools on the dresser when I stop being lazy

Birds is a lovely idea Anna.

You dont really need a theme ... ds' room has pale blue walls (but could be any colour really) and a multi coloured spotty roman blind and then a massive animal world map on one wall, wooden mid height sleeper, white wardrobes, wooden floor, white ikea storage on another wall and massive clothes pegs on wall above above holding his art work ... with a huge sticker height chart next to it in the shape of a tree with caterpillars and birds etc. The room looks fab but isnt themed and would be fine for either sex.

thanks ladies i really like the bird idea, and also like the big animal world map idea. Where did you get it from bodiddly

How about white walls and white furniture with nautical style accessories. Laura Ashley does some lovely seaside bedspreads for both girls and boys and you can do cushions and blinds in ticking or stripey fabrics. I think its a really fresh look and there are lots of different places that sell bits and bobs that go well with this. Very cute too.

I can't quite remember but it is an all animal version of something like this. Ds loves is and each night at bed time we each pick an animal - it helps him learn their names and the countries they live in!

My DSs room is v pale blue with one wall with blue and white stars on it.

Other room is a multicoloured stripe on one wall and pale walls

preggersplayspop is right Laura Ashley do some lovely covers and accessories .. ds has the pirate set and the cowboy set ... they are easily interchangeable when you keep walls etc quite neutral
