Eeerm, how do I measure for carpet on stairs that turn 180 degrees? I'm lost!

I need to get an idea of the price for new carpet on my landing and two flights of stairs that both turn 180 degrees.

How on earth do I go about measuring up?

Hiya, I recently had stair carpets fitted and my dp spent ages measuring only to find they send someone round to check anyway!

Best bet is to draw it. width & length to turn etc then take it in with u.

Thanks! The thing is I'm not sure we actually want to do it, it's potentially part of a larger building project. We've got quotes for the actual building work, windows, the hard flooring in the bedrooms etc etc. But I need and idea of the price of the carpet before we can decide exactly which combo of improvements we are actually going to do.

We have fitters in today fitting a carpet on 2 sets of stairs which both turn 180, plus the landing in between them. Should be no problem to get people out to quote without obligation.

The carpet shop where I bought a bedroom carpet said that when the time came to get the stairs and landing carpet done they would send someone out to measure for me, no problem. Must be much easier for them this way around than having to redo a job later when the measurements weren't right!

Yes - best to draw it out and ask as they can use the carpet in all sorts of ways on stairs. Our last stairs were several sets of shorter bits of carpets as they used offcuts from the other rooms we were having done

I'll just keep trying to find someone who'll do a no obligation qoute. I'm Googeling in Dutch which always makes it a wee bit harder to find what I need

Oh, and remember that how much carpet you will need depends on whether it's plain or striped/patterned.

Rather than googling I think i would have a quick recce drive round and look for small independant shops, I always seem to have more luck with them.
