Help - French doors or window in kitchen???

Please help, I am driving myself (and everyone around me insane)...this may ramble but please bear with me. We are having an extension at the back of our house to fill in the current 'l' shape (Victorian semi). You will walk through a sitting room into the extension (dining room) which will have French doors and alongside the extension/dining room (open plan) will be the kitchen. Should we put another set of French doors in the kitchen part or have a window with units under? This is on the back (North) wall. There is a window already on the side wall (only looks onto alleyway) and the South wall adjoining house will have tall units. If we have Fench doors we would have an L-shaped kitchen with an island unit (albeit a small one). If we have a window we would have a u-shaped kitchen probably with a peninsular unit to separate the dining area... Does anyone have any ideas on which is best???

We have french doors in our kitchen (as well as a stable door adn a window, and no, it is not a big room)
French doors are fab, in the spring the dc sit at the breakfast bar with the french doors open, we can hear the birds, feel the breeze...
In the summer the french doors are open all day and the patio becomes an extension of the kitchen, we eat all our meals there (weather allowing) and it is just lovely

So french doors, definately!

The more light the better IMO so go for the French windows.

COuld you consult a local architect? Some specialise in smaller jobs and coudl give really good advice in a 1-2 hour meeting.
Worth it IMO.

I am right in thinking that you will already have french doors by the table next to the kitchen area?

If so I think you should stick to just the one set and have the sink looking out the window.

yes will deffo have one set by the table. I have consulted an architect who was very non-committal but leaned slightly to window ides. I still like the terrace idea. Annieshaf, it sounds just like this one, are you happy with it?
