hello, getting slightly ahead of myself as haven't had an offer on our flat yet (been on the market since last may , but we are hoping to move to preston park but have seen something (online) that we like on Osborne Road, Ditchling Road end. It is further out than we hoped to be, further from the parks but closer to the school complex. Haven't really been looking that far up until now - anyone know what it's like that end? It's quite close to Ditchling Road. Do we go for a bigger house up there or a smaller house in Preston Park?

thanks for your thoughts

great area, lots of families. how old are your kids?

Mammina · 09/01/2009 16:56

thanks MABS, do you mean Osborne Road a great area?
DD is nearly 2 and fingers crossed another on the way in July (scan in a week)

MABS · 09/01/2009 17:23

yes i do, lots of young children and groups around there. Where are you movin from. Congrats on number 2

Mammina · 09/01/2009 17:39

really, great that's exactly what I wanted to hear. Moving from London (sorry, I know you're probably fed up of us ) but not originally from London.
Thanks, just want to get the scan out of the way so I can relax a bit. Depending on whether we manage to sell our flat, no2 might be a Brighton baby!

MABS · 09/01/2009 19:54

i'm a london girl too,don't worry!

Mammina · 09/01/2009 20:53

phew!
I've lived here for 12 years and have loved it, but time to move out now & I can't wait, it's just taking a bit longer than we'd hoped.

MABS · 11/01/2009 17:43

good luck with it all

interstella71 · 12/01/2009 14:39

tis a lovely area - have lived here for 5 years - i would say that fiveways is nicer than preston park - you have preston park 10 min (20 on way back!), Blakers Park 7 mins and hollingbury park 1 min (where you can walk right up on to the golf link for fab views of the whole of brighton). Also very lovely community, toddler group on thurs am in ditchling road, co -op, butchers, green grocers plus other shops, Balfour is a good school. Only down side is too many cars, difficulty parking but thats not uniques to this area.

Does the house have 4 bed and massive kitchen?

Mammina · 12/01/2009 16:14

great stuff. yes interstella, is it yours . It looks gorgeous, but all depends on how quickly we can get rid of our flat & what we get for it. Have already dropped the price down 3 times so it's quite possible the Osborne rd house will be out of our budget unless the vendor is willing to take a lower offer (it does suggest this on the website...).

twoluvlykids · 12/01/2009 16:17

I used to live in a wee little flat in Osborne Road, so small you couldn't swing a cat round in it, but I loved it!

couldn't park there, even then, and that was a looong time ago.

Mammina · 12/01/2009 16:19

I'm crap at parking on a good day, maybe we should move somewhere else!

interstella71 · 13/01/2009 21:18

Hi Migola,

No it's not mine, but it belongs to a friend....

It really is a very beautiful house.

Fingers crossed for you!

Mammina · 14/01/2009 09:12

How funny, it's such a small world.
Am going to have to forget about the house for now - don't want to go and see anything until we get an offer on this place - have done that before and fallen in love with something only to be stuck and have to watch it be sold to someone else
Have also started doing the lottery which would take the pressure off a bit

interstella71 · 14/01/2009 22:50

... well funny you should say that.I have a friend who moved to Somerset and ended up buying a decrepit old barn with her boyfriend. The day after they completed she was so stressed about how they couldnt afford to do it up, she bought a lottery ticket ... and won! She would never say to anyone how much they won, but it was about 5 million. They did the barn up, got married and have 3 children now.
You never know eh!

Mammina · 15/01/2009 08:48

wow! I'm not bothered about winning millions, just enough to be able to buy a nice house. I suppose someone has to win (forgot to do it last night though!)

Mammina · 15/01/2009 12:21

sod's law, we've just accepted an offer on our flat, so I call the estate agent to arrange a visit on your friend's house & they've taken it off the market
