need PLUMBING help! Can't get toilet seat back on.

I took the toilet seat off last night to clean it (never done it before and never will again). The nut and wing nut of course dropped off and I couldn't reattach them because of the design of the toilet. My fingers will need to be double jointed.
Is there a trick to this?
Or am I left with a wobbly seat forever?

ha ha I've done it! A piece of blu-tac was the answer! As in, I wrapped the tac around the nut to get it in position while I tried to thread it.

Clever! and took less than half an hour to work it out!

Well actually it took at least 45 minutes last night, then another half hour today before I posted. this included 20 minutes of DH trying and failing and swearing loudly. So we will give DIY challenges a miss for a while.
