HELP! ive got no where to live!

we found somewhere to live last week, and paid a holding deposit (private landlord)
he rang me yesterday a week after taking the deposit to say he has to sell the place as his remorgage fell thru.
ive got to be out by the end of the week, else i loose my deposit, and i cant find anywhere.
i have tried loot, newsshopper and gumtree.. is there anywhere else i can look for private lettings?
i cant go thru and agent as i cant afford the fees.
any ideas?
im looking in the bromley/beckenham area.

Why dn't yoy try talking to your council?

they are the ones making us move so dont think they are much help. promised us housing allowance when we moved then said we couldnt, and cant afford the rent here.

Oh, I'm sorry. I had trouble with my council too, I got made homeless while I was pg, had nowhere to go and they wouldnt help me either. After ds was born, I threatened to bring the travel cot to the council office and live in the reception area, they said I'd be arrested which was ok coz at least I'd have somewhere to sleep, but I bottled it.

No. A friend put me, dp, ds and dog up in his house for 18months!! Then dp managed to get a mortgage and buy shared ownership.
A friend of my dad's has a daughter who was in similar situation, well she and her mum (my dads friend) apparently went to council office (it was a big one like Hammersmith and Fulham or Chelsea and Westminster or somewhere) and shut themselves in the cleaning cupboard and refused to leave until they were handed the keys for a place. She reckons it was in the papers, but I don't remember hearing about it.

Hope you get something sorted soon. It's an awful position to be in.
