Cleaning and Repairing Wooden Window Sills -advice needed

Help - we are having secondary glazing fitted. Our windowsills need cleaning and repairing. How best to clean them- using diluted bleach? If so how dilute should bleach be? The sills are old and cracking. Is it best to sand them down and fill with polyfilla? Is it a good idea to buy one of those small sanding machines?

Thanks very much.

I would sand them down, fill (with wood filler, not polyfilla) and repaint, as they will be much harder to get to once the sec glazing is in place.

I would just use a sanding block, machines are not that great for fiddly windows.

We need to do the same with our window sills. Has anyone done this and how good a job can you do if your sills are really cracked?
