What type of professional(s) do I need to change the name on our house?

Please can anyone help? I haven't a clue where to start. I think we should change our house into my name for tax reasons but don't know who to ask about it or who it is that we'd need to get to do it!

TIA

Yy. Have you made wills? V important, especially if house is just in his name. Try and see a solicitor ASAP.

No problem - yes there is a bit of an issue with you both going abroad because you may well be tax resident in another country with a whole different set of tax rules. And the rules can be wildly different.

Some jurisdictions aggregate family income for instance, which might make the whole plan entirely unnecessary. Do you have a clue where you are going?

US probably, but also could be Germany!

I'll concentrate at one thing at a time though and try to think longer term

No we don't have wills, but tbh I never had anything until I married my DH so there was nothing to pass on and quite frankly I didn't care who inherited my holey tights!

You should do it now though- particularly with 2 DC- what provision have you made if something happens to DH and yourself? Have you told anyone who will be guardians?

No, I supposed I expected my parents to deal with it and thought that ultimately their godparents will claim them (my cousins) but I haven't checked for sure.

If need to hire a solicitor, will do it at the same time!
