Renting a house thats currently for sale

We're currently renting a house which had been sold but fell through. The landlords approached us to see if we wanted to rent for 6 months which we did. I only realised at the last minute that they were keeping it on the market - which I could sort of understand as otherwise they would have to re-HIP it etc when our tenancy expired. However I didnt realise that they would still be continuing with viewings. So far in 3 weeks they have had 2 viewings, both of which the agent has accompanied but we have had to go out for. The landlords do telephone us to arrange the viewings but either way its still an inconvenience to have to go out and get the house in to a showing standard for them - I feel like we are simply housekeepers for them. Also they have not provided a gas safety certificate for the house - I suspect they were just looking for some income during the winter months to save the house sitting empty but either way we should surely still have a gas safety ceritificate?

The gas safety cert is an annual legal requirement for renting out. It is also good proof of maintenance of the boiler etc for any potential sale so is also in their interest to have.

I have been in your situation and it does get a bit much. It got to the stage were we had to agree a certain time each week for viewings as it was becoming impossible to manage. I only had to do it for 3 months but 6 months would be pretty full on. I wasn't expected to leave the house when there were viewings though.

I hav been in your position too and never had to leave the house for viewings - that is mad!
