Urgent-anyone ever turned an East Coast Country cotbed in to a bed?

The ends of the cotbed are meant to come apart, but appear fused together. What do we do next?

I think I had this one - can you wiggle them and pull them apart? - have just checked dd's and there is a ridge where the two pieces clicked together.
