laminate on landing carpet on stairs??

we wanted to put laminate on our hallway and landing but carpet the stairs. However my mother says they have had a bit of a problem with the top landing with the laminate having a bit of a lip over the top stair.

HAs anyone else had a problem like this? I was worried about it with 2 little ones under 5.

I think I'd carpet the landing as I can see what your mother means. We've got laminate in the hall and carpet on the stairs/landing and it looks good. Also means the landing is quiet when creeping in at night to kiss small children etc.

You can buy "noses" to finish off the edge of the landing and neaten up the join between laminate and carpet.

I'd carpet the landing too. Don't forget, laminate can get slippery and with two little ones you don't want to risk them slipping over the edge of the stairs. Also, its so noisy upstairs. We put it in some of our bedrooms last year and you can hear every noise when you are downstairs so we won't now be doing the others in laminate as planned. We have laminate downstairs in the hall and carpet on the stairs and it looks nice
