I just painted second coat of undercoat/primer in brillant white (boiler cabinet/bookcase) but it looks very uneven and you can see shadows of wood in places. Is this normal..or should I do one more coat.....

anybody know..???

I would say that is normal. The primer helps the gloss stick to the surface underneath more than block coverage (I think).

Sounds normal. We just painted our porch and the primer looked very patchy, but was fine once we put the proper paint on top.

I think it will be fine. You can always go over top coat twice.
Primer is to make the best paint stick IYKWIM.
