DD2 has pulled the string too hard and now the light does not work. Do I need to get an electrician? Or can I do it myself? Will I need a new light fitting? Anyone else had this?

Are you sure its not the light bulb?

Can you unscrew the plastic rose at the top of the cord, maybe it has dislodged formthe swuitch in which case you may be able to reattach.

we had this very problem a couple of weeks ago!

you can get a replacement switch for a few pounds from Homebase/B&Q. It's dead easy to replace, you don't need an electrician. The switch should come with a leaflet explaining which wire goes where. Just make sure you turn off the electricity at the mains first.

Oh good great.
daizydoo- i dont think its the light bulb because the string doesnt click like it used to and DD2 was all funny about it- pulling the string I mean she knew she had done something.
Thanks all. Sounds relatively simple.
