I have just found an exchange and sent for the forms to get the ball rolling.

I understand that the HA have to let me know their desicion within 6 weeks, but was just wondering if anyone on here had done an exchange and how long it took from start to finnish ??

once id found the house, about 2-3 weeks i think.just had to wait for council/Ha to do inspections once the forms were in and that was that.it was a local exchange though so pretty straightforward.

OMG Divastrop, that is quick.

This is a local swap too. Two different HA's but but the swap is only about 1 mile away.

There was me thinking it might be a couple of months or more.

All excited now

mine was council to HA.the other family wanted to move really quickly and they hired a van and all i had to pay was half the cost of that, they moved all my stuff for me.

i packed the entire house in a week,on my own with 3 children, one of whom was 20 months old at the time.

My mum did one a couple of years ago. I think it took about 6 weeks to get all the paperwork sorted.

don't got too exicted! I'm in the middle og one now and they have taken longer than 6 weeks 7 infact! I thought it was a legal requirement that it is 6 weeks. we only moving 2 miles down the road. also once you sign they need 2 weeks notice till the tenancy starts and you can move! can't wait to leave now council have taken so long.

me23 · 26/07/2008 18:37

i mean tto add that is they have taken 7 weeks to ok it! so not complete we still have to sign over! it's been so stressful esp as I need a full time place in nursery for dd come sept and as I'm currently not in the postcode she isn't priority.
