As a house seller can you

see that I’ve opened your home report? I browse properties for sale in my city all the time via an app, for no reason other than I like to see nice houses. Was looking at a particular nice house and opened the home report and instantly recognised the name - I’m not close to this person and have never seen their house but think it would be weird if they knew I was looking at their very nice house that I’m clearly not in the market to buy.

please ease my anxiety and tell me if your agent has ever given you a list of the names of people downloading the report, or if you just get general stats like x number has opened.

i have never recognised a name before in around 10 years of constant browsing so didnt even cross my mind they could potentially see it until i saw the name then had the sudden panic. Have deleted the app because cant handle the anxiety of this happening again 🤣

FYI Home Reports are a thing in Scotland, for any mystified English or Welsh readers.

I very much doubt a seller can see who’s opened them in an app.

Not sure what you mean by a “Home Report” but if you’re using Rightmove or any of the other apps for houses for sale I don’t think they log or give away details of those like you and me and half my neighbors who use them.

In my village many of us check out the latest property that goes up For Sale!

I also look at the million pound + houses because I’m interested but it’s cursory and I’m sure there’s no tell-tale notification to the seller that I’ve looked.

Thank you! This has clarified what OP was worried about & like you, I doubt anyone cares or checks on anything like a Home Report viewing which is after all presumably in the internet public domain.

Ah yeah thanks @MaidsRoom it’s in Scotland, google said the seller can’t see who opened them in the app but that the agent can. Just wondering how likely the agent would be to pass the info to the seller - I have a history of general anxiety so am aware I may be overthinking this. Just looking for reassurance really!

Thank you, your posts are really reassuring, I appreciate that!

I very much doubt that the agent can see WHO opened anything or looked at a listing. They will definitely get metrics like the number of people clicking on a particular listing or opening the home report, but just raw numbers, nothing identifying.

Gosh no, not unless you were told before opening the report that your data would be handed to the estate agent . No. It will be fine. The report is a publicly available document, not a dating site profile.
ETA Sorry quoted wrong post.

Thank you, @IdleGossipI feel a lot better already

Also in Scotland - our agent sent us daily updates on numbers of people who had accessed the home report, plus hits on the website .
The agent absolutely can see who accessed the Home Report where I am as you have to log in with your email address to view it, and I have had follow up emails from selling agents about houses I have looked at.
i don’t imagine they would pass that on to the sellers though.

Thanks @Deargthis is where my fear came from, I know people get follow up calls after opening the home report, so I know the agent can see it. I’m reassured they didn’t give you a log of who actually opened it though

When we sold 4 years ago, the estate agent told us if people requested the home report (or downloaded it) but never told us any more detail than that. We didn't even know the names of the people buying the house until the exchange of missives as far as I can remember.

You might get an email from the estate agents asking for feedback or if you want to arrange a viewing, but I think that's rare. Our estate agents were terrible at chasing up interested people, and I think I only got one or two contacts from estate agents when I was browsing Rightmove and obsessively downloading home reports.

You'll be fine. Continue browsing!

Thank you so much for this, when you have this level of (admittedly irrational) anxiety, you don’t know how much reassurance like this helps. Honestly feel like a weight has been lifted
