We've been renting our house for almost 9 years now. We have an elderly landlord but we dont have direct contact as its managed by a letting agency. We would love to own our own home but seems like it will be years for us to save a decent 10% mortgage. Im talking about 25k. We have around 8-10k in savings for a deposit. We may be in a position to buy a shared ownership as the deposit is more attainable. Only problem is, these schemes are all quite out of the way and I dont drive. Public transport is rubbish.
Has anyone used the Landlord Gifted Deposit scheme? I feel like it would be great for us as we could top it up with our savings. We love the house we live in and would like to stay. Ive just never heard of someone using it so not sure how it will work. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you 😊

Hi There,
We've not got any experience of this scheme we can share but we wanted to hop in and give this a bump for you.
Hopefully some of our users have experience they can share with you.

Have you got contact details for the landlord that you can ask them if they’d be willing to sell the house to you and come up with an agreement especially as you’ve been a long term tenant.

If you are FTB, you can get schemes with a 5% deposit too - but maybe the LL is willing to reduce the price to offload it? Unless they have plans to gift the property to a relative once they’ve passed?
