Heating app/ smart thermostat recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good heating app or smart thermostat? I used to have Hive, but it keeps disconnecting and I have to keep contacting them to reboot it, which is almost impossible. I’m looking for something simple and reliable that’s easy to use and doesn’t cost too much to buy and install initially. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!

I had Hive connected in the past year. I really like it and it works well.

I used Wiser in my last house, really liked it, very easy to use.

I have Honeywell. Each radiator has its own thermometer and so we only heat the rooms we are using. I’d definitely recommend.

Sorry, we’ve got Hive and it’s been working fine for several years now.

I have Hive and it works perfectly, I've never had an issue with it. In a previous house I had Tado and again, that was great with zero issues but I prefer the Hive.

Another satisfied Hive user, for years now. I don’t even know what it means to have them reboot it? The signal was a bit rocky at first, I got a WiFi repeater and they provided a plug in Bluetooth receiver. Made both changes at the same time so no idea what worked, it just does work.

The thermostat needs new batteries every few years. Otherwise , no worries.

I’d start by finding out what they are doing to remotely rest ? Google/AI would be your friend here. Good luck.

We liked Hive until ours developed a fault and they couldn’t get an engineer out for weeks as they apparently only served our area on a monthly basis. It is also basically impossible to transfer it to another owner - when we sold the house where we had Hive I ended up having to change the password and email address on my account and give that to the new owners which sounds fine but I couldn’t change the name so expect my name is still on it.

We have Google Nest now and I wouldn’t recommend that either. It doesn’t have a boost feature where you can just turn it on for a set time like 1 hour - if you turn it on you have to manually turn it off again - which drives me insane as that’s the main thing I want from a heating system, we are too unpredictable in our movements to set a daily schedule. I asked people if it was good and they said yes but I didn’t think to ask if it had a boost as I never imagined anyone would invent a heating system that didn’t have such a basic bloody feature. It’s also virtually impossible to set up a schedule as the interface is so badly designed and confusing to use.

Think they've changed the problem where you can't log out of hive when you move out, think you just have to take batteries out then disconnect the heating from your app then you can take your hub with you and they can get a new hub or use hive like a normal dumb thermostat

Tado…replaced Nest after many years when Google stopped supporting updates. Very happy with the Tado.

We have had Tado for 8 years, easy to set up easy to set schedules no issues.
