Was it worth moving far away?

We are a family of 5, eldest child is 6 and we live in one of the nicest parts of a cheap(ISH) city in the north west. We don't have a garden, just a yard, but we are a few mins walk from a lovely park and have many other parks and green spaces locally . We have brilliant neighbours and a lovely primary school. Secondary options are a bit meh but ok. We have a great social life. We have lots of friends here and so do our children. But but but! We are craving the opportunity to live closer to nature and access the outdoors more easily and more spontaneously. We especially love the coast and our local beach (about 25/30 mins drive) is not great at all. We have been holidaying in Northumberland for years and have recently been toying with the idea of a move to Tynemouth (or, given our budget it will probably be Whitley bay) - I have fantasies of nipping up to various gorgeous pockets of Northumberland for the weekend and of my kids learning to surf. Jobs wise we are public sector workers in areas of need so I don't think that would be an issue. The problem I am faced with is the idea of leaving our lovely life behind!!! So my question is: if you abandoned everything you knew for a new adventure somewhere else, was it worth it?

I moved myself my child and pet (I was a lone parent) 200 plus miles for a new life. I got a job and found a house to rent and moved to a town I had never even heard of and we left our home town for good.

That was 20years ago the job was a failure and I’ve had a ton of health problems. I also don’t have any family or friends here and I’m now estranged from all of my family, so I just have my adult DD and my DP. We bought our very first house when I was in my 40s after years of renting.

But yes it was the best thing I could have done.

if I was you I would just go.

Personally I wouldn’t leave a very nice life unless I had to.

And I did, in fact, have to a long time ago, and while I’ve done well and still have a nice life, if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t move!!
