Plug socket woes!

I just wanted to change the plug socket to one with USB points but this has happened! 😂
can anyone please tell me what would be the best thing to use to fix it? It’s like the paint would just keep on peeling off if I carried on 😑

I don't know anything about electricity (and not much more about other diy 😐) but Zinsser Peel Stop painted around socket and over peeling paint might work? zinsseruk.com/products/peel-stop

Agreed, would probably give a quick sand around the edge of the peeled paint then zinsser peel stop paint and then paint with normal paint

You’ll also need to fill and sand the top and bottom right of the socket as well by the looks of it.

I have never heard of that paint before - it sounds just what I need.
and I will definitely fill and sand it too

Is it just paint that came off, or plaster too? How thick? Have you kept it? It can be stuck back on.

BTW the cause is a wall that has been painted without slackening or masking the sockets. The paint has overlapped or run from the wall onto the socket, and stuck them together. To prevent it happening next time, use the point of a stanleyknife to score a scratch in the paint at the angle where the back of the socket meets the wall. Your scratch should be the depth of the paint thickness. No need to scratch the plaster or the socket, and definitely don't let your knife get behind the socket. You can use the straight edge of the socket as a guide. Hold it nearly horizontal. When you slacken the screws the socket should freely wiggle. If not, scratch again.
