I’m hoping that someone might have been in a similar position and can offer some advice here. Our neighbour’s garage is in a terrible state and borders our drive. Last year, the cast iron gutters fell off, narrowly missing our car. We obviously made her aware but she was not particularly concerned and her manner bordered on aggressive. Now, what was previously hairline cracks, have opened up quite alarmingly - 2.5cm at their widest points and there are considerably more cracks than at the beginning of the summer.
I think our best course of action is to make a report to building control as this is clearly an unsafe structure, putting our property (cars) at risk and our safety.
I should add that the garage and our driveways are a considerable distance from our houses - so no problem with the houses themselves.
Has anyone made such a report and can tell me what the process was like?
I realise that a low key conversation with her would be ideal but I don’t feel I have that option given her previous reaction.
