Vented induction hobs - anyone got a good, quiet one they’d recommend?

Tried Which? Best buys but they only tested 7 and there are considerably more than that available -
plus their recommended IKEA one which is nicely priced looks like it’s been discontinued!

Can I take a punt on the newer IKEA ones??

Don’t really want to pay above £1,500 - ideally under a grand and QUIET is my deal breaker for the xtra £500 if I have to!

Realising that 11.30 on a Saturday night might not be the best time to post such a fascinating topic so just bumping for the Sunday morning browsers..

Each one should have the dB advertised so you can compare the noise levels. On the higher speeds/boost levels nearly all are noisier.
We have a miele one. I can't say if its overly loud as never compared with our previous one in terms of dB but it works incredibly well in clearing smoke. Miele have factory outlet and the stock changes daily.

I don't understand how you've such a limited budget when this kind of hob is only really a thing if you have an open plan mega-kitchen with island and feel you must put your hob on the island - a bad idea in itself.

None will be quiet. It's a very compromised design due to the simple physics of things, venting above is much more efficient.

I can recommend some flush fit ceiling extractors if you’re interested in that alternative!

Please ignore my post! I wrongly read that you wanted a vented air extractor!

We did look into down draught extractor fans but after much research, decided against it. I didn't want a hob on the island plus I'd read too many reviews where something had over flowed and gone into the fan unit.

Hmmm not looking good so far - quick comment to see if anyone else has anything good to say about the downdraft extraction built in hobs…??

My parents have one and are happy with it. Not sure what brand, it may be a Bora? It did require retrofitting the exhaust pipes under the kitchen floor which wasn’t too easy. But then, before that they had no extractor at all so guess anything would have been better! It isn’t that quiet…

We have a downdraft extractor. It’s excellent. I don’t find it any noisier than our old traditional extractor. It was expensive though (Gaggenau).
