So I am stuck doing very little interior work to my house as there is so much to do.... I literally can't find where to start. On the surface it's ok but a bit shabby, but each room has things that need doing and I can't work out the order so I do nothing. I am finally in a position where I can pay someone to replace the carpet in the front room. But the adjoining kitchen floor needs replacing so it seems daft to do the lounge first. Also the walls and woodwork need painting in the lounge so I should also do that first. But also the kitchen ceiling needs to be plastered so I can't do the kitchen floor yet. But then a rotten wall plate timber needs replacing so there's no point doing the ceiling yet until that is done.
But the lounge carpet is the bit I really want you get done as it makes me miserable and has ten years of heavy wear and tear including pets. But what if I replace the carpet then the dog wees on it? What if I don't notice?
I can afford to get roughly one of these jobs done a month financially, and so can't attack it all at once.
Where do I start? At the bit that most affects me (carpet)? Or the boring sensible chain of repairs which gets the bits I don't mind done first?
Can anyone talk sense to me and let me know it's ok to do it in the wrong order, or that it's not ok. I'm stalled by being scared to spend decent money and get it wrong. So I do nothing. Help.
