Can anyone tell me what sort of commission Estate Agents are charging these days in the Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace area of London?

[This is just to settle a point under discussion - we moved away from there years ago.]

We paid 1% just down the road in SE26 not too long ago. Se23 and SE18l9 agents were looking at anything from 1.25-3.5(!) before negotiation at the time.

What a con an EA job is, really?
You show someone around a property, maybe a couple of times, make half a dozen phone calls, and it’s (at the very least) 1% in your back pocket.

Thank you.
We paid 1.25% back in the early noughties and were wondering if it had gone up.

I'm paying 1.5 per cent on a flat sale in SE19 that's (hopefully) completing soon. The agents have been brilliant - they got me 25 viewings and two offers (albeit lower than I wanted) within a fortnight, so I don't begrudge them the money!
