Would you keep a small ensuite or convert it to wardrobe space?

Looking for people's thoughts on changing a small ensuite into a wardrobe/office. We have an upstairs bathroom and downstairs wc 2 bedrooms 1 box room. Overall space limited in house so looking to utilise as much as possible. Would you keep ensuite or change?

I do not like ensuites. I do like clothes. I'd have a (walk in?) wardrobe hands down.

I love the idea of a private bathroom. Unless you're living alone, the more bathrooms the better, when the kids have friends round. I don't see the need for a walk-in wardrobe, but if you have a lot of clothes and want to, that's fair enough.

I have both and never use the en suite i just dont like it 😒

I have never seen the point of an en-suite outside of a hotel room.or holiday accomodation.

Why oh why anyone would want to use use the loo next to where you sleep unless you have to. I just dont get it.

Wardrobe, office, storage every time.

You've already got 2 other toilets to use and clean, which is more than enough for a 2/3 bed house.

En suite all the way, when other family are using the bathroom you have your own

All of our bedrooms have an en suite - which was a big factor in choosing house. Team en suite here :) more seriously could you take advice on which is better for the value of the property?

How many of you are there in the house? I wouldn't want fewer than 3 toilets for 4 of us.

How lobg do you intend to live there? I would have thought that stripping out an en suite would reduce the resale value, but if you intend to live there a long time, it's worth just making it what you want.

I wouldn't want fewer than 3 toilets for 4 of us. Surely this is only necessary if you have medical conditions in the family, how often are you in competition for the loo?

I think a wardrobe is the better option given the other rooms.

Never, we have 4 toilets.

It also means that if one of you stinks the room out, another doesn't then have to shower in the smell.

We also don't have to worry about timing our showers to get everyone through of a morning/evening.

It's unusual to feel the need for a shower each given each is in use for only about 10-15 mins. Your money your choice though!

I would keep the en-suite. It's one of the things I miss about my old house.

I wouldn't have an ensuite. It's just another bathroom to clean , which I hate doing.
How about just having a loo and sink, aand some wardrobe space?

I sleep in the nude so definitely wouldn't want to pull on PJ's to go for a wee in the night. I like an ensuite and would not book even holiday accommodation without one. I have a family bathroom, top floor shower room and downstairs toilet but often 2 teens will be using bathroom and shower room at same time.

Keep en-suite. It’ll reduce the saleability of the house if you remove it.

Depends on whether you have children or not. With kids, I’d keep the en suite as an adults only bathroom and the other one as a family bathroom. If you don’t, I’d go for the dressing room approach.

En-suites are such a waste of space.

Unless it's your planned forever home, I wouldn't get rid of an en suite. You'll lose some value by getting rid of a bathroom.

I have two DDs, so I’d never get rid of an en-suite. But if it was just me and DH, I’d probably get rid of it.

If I was buying a house and looked at one with an en-suite my first thought would be "how much would it cost me to remove that?" 😂
