Where in Finchley for school?

Anyone here live in Finchley and can recommend us some good areas (or streets even) for school? We are expecting our first child and need to swap our one bed to a house - preferably in Finchley to be closer to DP’s parents. Access to state schools are super important as ideally I don’t want to move again. We won’t be eligible for any faith schools, so from what I see, for secondary there are either Wren/Compton in North Finchley or Archer Academy in East Finchley, and maybe Christ college? They seem quite far away from each other so a bit concerned if we fail to get in our “immediate” one we may not get any.

School is the number 1 criteria although DP also prefers a nice street (translate: Edwardian/Victorian looking like the one in his childhood 😅). Walking distance to high street/restaurants will be great. Access to the tube is a bonus although not critical as we could cycle on the segregated lane on High Road to East Finchley station.

Thank you!

East Finchley seems to meet all your criteria & will give you access to The Archer Academy, which is well thought of and Christ college, which has a much larger catchment. The Compton is a good school, but is more N Finchley. It will all come down to budget!

We moved from Finchley to Bucks because of the lack of school options - there were Jewish schools and a Catholic school, you had to live on top of the CofE primary to get in and there simply wasn’t anything at secondary nearby. It made us a bit cross to be honest. However the only criteria for getting into Bucks schools is ability, and the non-selective ones are also very good.
