Fridge freezer delivery, how long before I can use

Just that really, new one being delivered on Tuesday and they are taking my old one away. I will have to transfer everything into bags / boxes before they come, but I just read online that you have to wait 12 hours before turning on!!!!

Is this just to cover them or is it correct? I have a fridge freezer full of stuff but need a new one as it’s really not working correctly and keeping items at the correct temperature.

They are delivering new one and removing the old one, I didn’t pay for installation as I can manoeuvre it into place and plug in…

Just wondered if the 12 hours is correct and if I need to ask friends to stash my food!!!

TIA

it might vary by manufacturer but I think my Samsung was 4-6 hours before turning it on - and then obviously it will take a while to come to temperature.

The reason for not turning on straight away is because the gases need time to settle once the freezer is in an upright position.

Just had one delivered couple weeks ago, advised to leave the gas to level out for 5 hours before I could use it.

After that I switched it on had to wait for the alarm to go off to reach the correct temperature, but I did put all the food in anyway before it went off. All goid, bamd love it (but it did replace my ancient 28 year old one)

I had a new freezer last week and was advised to wait two to three hours before switching on, then allow an hour or so for it to cool down.
