Did your loft conversion work damage your garden?

We are just finishing a major ground floor extension and unsurprisingly the builders using our garden to store materials etc has wrecked our garden. I'm trying to decide if we fix it properly or just do an interim DIY job as we might do a loft conversion in two years. I'd rather not properly relandscape if the loft conversion will wreck it again though I don't know if the loft conversion will do as much damage to the garden. All experience welcome!

When we did ours, the lawn got a bit damaged, but the borders and patio was all fine. We reseeded the lawn, fed and it watered it, and by the summer, it was fine again.

Edit to add, we have a concrete side alley and front drive though so we just asked the builders to store stuff there instead.

we also have a concrete side alley and front drive so that's good to know!
