Making changes during loft conversion?

We are currently having our loft converted. All been going relatively smoothly, currently at stage of partition walls going up. It’s the first time we have been able to see the space in person and, with the partitions up, it’s suddenly clear that the space really isn’t what we had imagined. Bedroom cramped, too much space given over to en-suite… It looks like a space that would be very difficult to use.

100% see that this is our fault - we agreed to these plans at sketch stage. Unfortunately when sketches were being done we had a newborn and I wasn’t firing on all cylinders! Also plans looked fine on paper - it’s only now that we see the effect of the sloping roof.

We have asked to speak to site manager today and see what (if anything) can be done. I suppose I’m just looking for reassurance that this is a reasonable course of action? Obviously we understand that any changes will cost and we are happy to pay. I’m assuming changes during builds are par for the course? Right?!

My husband and I are both naturally very conflict-averse people and dreading voicing any kind of dissatisfaction - though I know we are the ones paying a huge amount of money for this conversion…

Better to have walls moved sooner rather than later. This will introduce delays and cost more but if you can afford it, get what you want.

does any plumbing need to move?

Nothing plumbed yet - we want to ask about the possibility of moving plumbing but there might be solutions that don’t involve moving plumbing.

Yes absolutely talk to the builder asap they will be used to making changes as they go. We ended up having a problem with our stairs and they had to go up from our bedroom rather than in the hall and our builders spent ages making sure we had talked through everything.
