Website to estimate UK building costs

Is there a good website i can use to estimate building costs ideally without using AI and without getting quotes from multiple companies

Things like plastering, building stud walls, bricking up doorways or making new doors?

Thanks

I shouldn't think so, because how could it work? Labour costs are different in different locations and you would have to put a lot of detail in to get a meaningful estimate. Probably better to ask on your local Facebook groups what people paid for broadly similar jobs. I could tell you that where I live in the NW, a plasterer charges £25 an hour, but would it help?

@SusanJJ £25/hour?!? Wow!
I agree - it wouldn’t be meaningful. A ballpark figure maybe but you can get that already. The adage is new build (like an extension) £3-4.5k/square metre plus VAT. Reno £2-3,000/sqm plus VAT. But that can go up depending on finish, or down if doing much of the work yourself.

Well ai is saying 150-600 to put a door a stud wall & 150-650 per metre for a stud wall its confusing

Surely the best way to get estimates in to get some local builders to do free no obligation quotes then pick the price you are happiest with. As others said prices vary up and down the country

We are looking at a house we are buying to see what renovations we can afford

When we are a bit further through the process we will take a builder there but im impatient and want to work out possible costs

Just found out adding a bathroom where there wasn't one will cost around a grand in Building regulations costs I hadnt anticipated which was a bummer 😅

There is a website that lists average costs around different parts of the country..i just cant remember the name...something with a town or city in scotland in name...??..not very helpful, a search might find it for you.!

Due to the rapid increase in materials cost, a young friend of mine (builder) can only give quotes with a 7 day limitation, as this is what he is given from his suppliers.

I have never known such price escalations, apart from COVID times.

Aw thats awful for him
