a long way down a path? It is hard to explain but we viewde the most lovely place yesterday apart from- you have to walk down a shingley path to get to the garden - the garden really is secret but should I be worried that I would n't be able to see DS (3) playing out form the house? Our if DH & I were in the garden in the evening DS would be quite a way away in the house in bed?

What do you think? Would it put you off?

Coo,, that is a LOVELY house, and what bliss, the children catawauling at the end of the garden 500 yards from the house. Perfect. I'd buy it.

Raffaella · 26/06/2008 21:47

Don't really understand the layout. So all the vegetation you can see to the side of the path is part of the neighbour's garden? Did they buy the top half of the garden off your vendor?

chocolateshoes · 26/06/2008 21:53

don't know how the garden layout came abput. the veg is 'ours' but it is a long narrow path bordered by lots of flowers etc

it looks lovely and i'm sure you'll get round the garden issue. I like the fact that there is an outside toilet in the garden as well...saves you running back to the house when you are sunbathing......all you need do is add a summerhouse with electric and you can have tean and cofeee out there as well.

beautiful house and a gorgeous part of the world.

chocolateshoes · 26/06/2008 22:04

Thanks! I agree! Plus its a 3 min walk to local primary, 3 mins to pub & village store! Hmmmmm.....summerhouse....now there's a plan!

I guess I'm in the minority here, but yes, it would put me off.
The house is beautiful as is the garden but I would worry about not being able to see them. It's probably completely irrational especially if it's secure and enclosed but I'd still worry. Not about abduction or anything, more about harem scarem accidents.

As an aside, I also quite like being able to look out into my garden, silly I know.

But if it's right in every other way with good school etc then don't be put off by my ranting.

You could always stick CCTV in!

Twiglett · 27/06/2008 14:01

it would give me pause for thought but wouldn't be a deal-breaker

I think its gorgeous

Twiglett · 27/06/2008 14:01

what about hanging out the washing though .. that'd be a pita

chocolateshoes · 27/06/2008 14:05

No worries for the washing - there is a patio bit with a washing line by the kitchen & also space for a small table & chairs. I think I'm with you Twig - it has made me think hance this thread but it isn't a deal breaker. Now it is the whole thing of whether we'd be stupid to add to our mortgage in current climate and all that. Arrgghh!

It's fab - buy it!
The path wouldn't put me off that much

Twiglett · 27/06/2008 14:07

then I'd do it .. its only really young toddlers you need to watch as long as you know they're safe it'll do him good to have somewhere he's not constantly monitored (that's what they say anyway)

as for market conditions .. bear those in mind and offer 20% less

chocolateshoes · 27/06/2008 14:11

ooooooooooh I love you all cos you're all saying the right things!! Quoted it all to DH last night and will have more to quote tonight! Yippee!

Buy it now! You can always trim back some of the plants and try and pull up the bamboo (looks like it).
The main problem looks like that great big confiner right in the way.
But all of these things are something that you can sort out later.
I've got a great big square garden and i'm trying to get it looking like a secret garden.
Go for it, you say local school is within walking distance? then no problemo!
