Please can you help with this current dilemma? We’ve got a glass roof conservatory with a glass roof in decent condition. The problem is it’s too warm in the summer and too cold in the winter. Spring and autumn we use it quite a lot. But during the summer it blocks access to the garden and we don’t want to let the heat into the main house.
Should we knock it down? Has anyone else done this? Or what are your thoughts? My husband and I have differing opinions on this so would be good to get some opinions. Would this reduce the house value? Would having a conservatory put you off buying a house, be seen as a decent addition or somewhere in between? If we got rid of the conservatory we could get bigger doors going straight out into the garden.
We don’t necessarily want to put a different roof onto the conservatory to help keep the heat out in summer because the living space that the conservatory is joined to is quite a dark space anyway.
Also worth noting that garden is an ok size so gaining a bit more garden space isn’t really a contributing factor.
Thank you.
