What Level of House Survey Should Identify This Issue?

Looking for opinions from people who may be more in the know than me. What level of home survey would you expect to make mention of an issue such as a supporting wall having been removed, but no support beam put in place? Thanks

None. Your lawyer will ask from the seller for any permissions or building control sign offs, and likely plans of the works. A surveyor may note that a supporting wall has been removed and recommend your conveyancer requests documentation. But they do not have x-ray vision to see what support has (or has not) been put in place. I’ve had full structural surveys that have been less thorough than a homebuyers report, so who you get counts. But none will be able to tell you if it meets building control without seeing the supports which presumably is now covered with plasterboards. The paperwork is needed to show it has been done properly.

you could check the planning portal yourself as building regs should be noted there

As above. In my experience the surveyor just spots 'could be' problems and then tells you to get the right trade in for a proper report.
