Insurance claim for carpets?

We have been decorating our bedroom upstairs, paint then put into the cupboard at the top of the stairs. Our 6 year old has managed to get the tin of paint and it has spilt over our bedroom carpet, landing and splashed into his bedroom too 🤦🏻‍♀️

We have contents insurance - what’s the chance of it being covered to replace on it? Carpets are all in good condition and wasn’t planning to replace any time soon! Does anyone have experience of this?

Do you have accidental damage cover as part of your insurance policy? It's usually an optimal extra.

I spilt soot on our living room carpet and we were covered for it. I had hoped a professional assessor might have been able to suggest someone to remove it, but he said it needed to be replaced.

I wanted to go to our local carpet shop and have them fit a new one, but the insurance will only allow the trade value of the carpet and they do t allow you the money to replace. They replaced like for like, but it was not the amount that we paid for the carpet in the first place. It also affected household insurance for several years.
