I’m considering moving from London to Guildford. I’m late 50s, single, no children, I don’t know anyone there.
I want to future proof it in terms of getting older so am trying to keep away from hills, as I don’t drive so will have to walk most places. The area that looks best for this is the triangle of Woodbridge Road, Nightingale Road, York Road. It seems like an area that doesn’t flood either.
I need to be fairly close to a station as need to commute to London once a week. The things I like doing would potentially be the classes at the Shakespeare company, evening classes in central Guildford, bars and restaurants near High Street and river (when hopefully I make some friends!), the river walk, the park.
Am I missing anything in targeting just this area? My budget is around £800k for 2 or 3 bed house.
I know nothing about the area really, but it seems to fit what I need. I went to visit today and went from Guildford Station up Stoke Fields to the park, then across to Woodbridge crossing to go on tow path, down to Britannia pub, up round castle, then to the high street and back to station. Liked it all very much but realise I didn’t cover the whole residential area!
